BourboCam
Wednesday, May 3, 2000
Oh how green with envy I am. I don't know why I do this to myself. I absolutely loved New Orleans when Jim took me their for our honeymoon. I fell in love instantly. I found myself absolutely fascinated with everything about New Orleans. I wanted to soak in every little detail and see everything. Of course, that didn't happen. Which is a good thing. That means I will just have to keep going back - time and time again. Until I get enough. But that will never happen. So I often find myself going to the BourboCam and peeking at everyone walking, drinking, talking in New Orleans - wishing I was there. Wishing I was the one gazing up at the BourboCam, half drunk, making the silliest face I can think of. I miss you, New Orleans. Hope to see you soon.

Celebrity Coddling
Wednesday, May 3, 2000
Well, I was one of the millions that tuned in to watch ABC's Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? on Monday night. The above article linked talks about how the tv show "coddled" the celebrities and allowed blatant cheating and teasing of our favorite host. Now I can see both sides of this particular debate, so to speak. True, the celebrities were helping each other with hard (or unknown) questions. But this whole thing is for a good cause, so I think they should be given a bit of a break. Although it was so hard to sit and watch David Duchovny blow $216,000 on a whimsical guess. All in all though, I think it's better that his cause got something instead of nothing. You be the judge. This is just my opinion.

Worse Car of the Millennium
Wednesday, May 3, 2000
This is hillarious. I guess I find it funny because I remember my mother actually owning one of these clunkers when I was a little girl. Who would've ever thought it would make one of the top ten worse cars of the millennium?

Drive Now, Talk Later
Wednesday, May 3, 2000
I came across this site the other day and meant to post about it sooner. This is something that I feel very strongly about and this site does everything to confirm the seriousness of talking on a cell phone while driving a vehicle.

I absolutely hate seeing someone driving along the road beside of, in front of, or behind me while having a cell phone stuck to their ear. It's rude and it's dangerous. How can someone be paying attention to the road if they are concentrating on a phone conversation?

I have absolutely nothing against cell phones. In fact, my husband owns one. He even calls me when he is heading home for the day. But I don't keep him on the phone any longer than necessary. I believe cell phones are very beneficial to people. They are great to have in case of emergencies. But there is a time and place to be talking on them. Driving down the road at 70 mph is NOT one of them.

If the above article isn't enough to convince you, read this open letter from Patti Pena about how her precious baby was killed.

Then stop by her own website and read some more on what she is doing to pass legislation against cell phone use while driving.

If you feel the need to do even more, pick up your own free bumper sticker to show your support.

And if you're still not convinced that talking on a cell phone while driving is dangerous, then something is wrong.
